![]() Impossible! Ever have anything impossible happen? Years ago when I plunged into a crevasse on the top of Mt. Baker, I didn’t realize I was over the gaping hole because of a layer of snow. Steve VandenBos and I stepped onto the crevasse at the same time and landed 15 feet down on a snow ledge. A few feet before or after we would have fell 30 feet and pulled the third person down with us and we’d still be there. I landed on my feet, looked around and thought impossible for it to happen the way it did. Ever see a miracle, the right timing, the right opportunity, the right provision. When you live with a God awareness, the impossible is a way of life. Somehow money works out when it should not. Sometimes it is a small grace, a timely phone call, a found object. Sometimes more dramatic, a miracle of healing, God taking you through a tough time. Impossible. One of the great delights for Christians is to believe in the God of the impossible. “Impossible” is used in today’s scripture. We’ll talk about the amazing use of the word Impossible, a twist in how we normally think of it. In another place of scripture, a favorite thought that brings comfort to millions of Christians, “Nothing is impossible with God.” I believe with my whole heart: God can do anything! There is always HOPE, always the possibility of a better tomorrow. Since nothing is impossible with God, we never have any reason to give up on anyone, no reason to fear, no reason to declare anything is impossible. No reason to give up on yourself! Our world is confusing and depressing, but to live by the truth that God is the God of the impossible means we don’t have to understand the problems of this world! God can do anything! Amen!

1/13/2014 Challenge Yourself to Change through Fellowship;Heb. 10:23-25; Acts 2:44-47; Carl Crouse, Jan. 12, 2013Read Now![]() What would make a good symbol of our church? While teaching children about different faiths, a teacher asked her students to bring a symbol of their family's faith to class. The next day, she asked each student to come forward and share what they brought: The 1st child said, "I'm Jewish, and this is my family's menorah." The 2nd child said, "I'm Roman Catholic, and this is my Mom's rosary." The 3rd child said, "I'm Greek Orthodox, and this is an icon of my patron saint." The 4th child said, "I go to the Sumas Advent Christian Church, ///and this is my casserole dish." After looking over the photos on our church Facebook page, somebody left a comment, “sounds like all you do is eat…” I love our church! I love being with you. I like MOST of you ~I mean~ ALL of you… I like Potluck Sundays… best cooks in the world! I may not understand all of you. I don’t get all the things some of you do…some of you probably think I’m quirky, too! You think I make odd decisions. That’s ok. I like all of you as you are, and I hope and pray we all grow in our faith, our Christian walk…. The Story is told of pastor Carter Jones. Carter had a small room in the attic that he used as a place of prayer. When he was especially burdened, he would make his way up the winding staircase to that room to spend quiet moments with God. The members of his family knew that when he went to the attic room, they were not to bother him. One day he climbed the stairs and knelt beside the chair to pray. He hardly started when the door swung open; there stood his little girl. The moment his eyes met hers, she knew she had done wrong. She said, "Daddy, you've been so busy lately I haven't seen you much. And I just wanted to tell you that I love you." And with that she threw her arms around her father's neck, gave him a big hug, wheeled around, and was gone as quickly as she had come. "Father, I've been so busy lately that I haven't had much time for you. I just want to tell you again that I love you." |

At SACC we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Every Sunday the worship service includes a message from the Bible. My words are an attempt to understand and apply the Bible to our daily living. I post weekly sermons and other biblical messages on this page. May you find meaning and hope as you read through each message and seek to hear God's voice. Leave a comment to ask questions or inspire others with your insights. Categories
