Lamentations 3:19-26 ~ Dare to Hope ~ Carl Crouse

Some dares are just dopy:
  • See how many ice cubes you can fit in your mouth at one time.
  • Touch the electric fence to see if it is on.
  • Speak like Elmer Fudd for the next hour
  • Peel a banana without using your hands.
  • Wear your pants backwards all day.

Some dares are dopy, but  I have a dare that has the power to change your life: When your world is dark/confusing/overwhelming: DARE TO HOPE.
  • When the world says give up, faith says Dare to Hope.
  • When your heart says it will never get better, faith says Dare to Hope.
  • When depression, frustration, disappointment consume you, faith says Dare to Hope.

I want to start off this morning by showing you a few images. Lets start off with an easy one… How many pieces of wood are there in this picture? All right, here is another one… Does anyone remember the magic eye books? Look at this image… Does anyone else see anything besides a blue pattern? What do you see? Finally, one more image… Many of you may remember The final image you are going to see is a dress… You may remember this dress. It showed up on many of your facebook feeds a few years ago. Along with it came the question… what color is it? So I’m going to ask you all… What color is the dress? People can see the same images differently. Some of us see 3 boards some of us see 4, some of us see a shark, some of us just see a blue pattern, some of us see a gold dress, other see a blue one. We all view life around us through our own unique perspectives.

2 Chronicles 1:1-17 ~ A Right Heart for a Great Work ~ Carl Crouse

Solomon is the newly crowned King of Israel.  King David, father of Solomon, has died.  Solomon now has all power and responsibilities of serving as King.  He had been serving alongside his father, but now all eyes are on Solomon.  Solomon shows himself to be a man of faith that desires to serve the Lord.  Solomon’s heart is right.  God uses people with willing and ready hearts to accomplish great things.  For Solomon, the great task is to build the temple, a place of sanctuary for the people of God to find rest and forgiveness.  A place for people to come together to refresh themselves before God and see God with fresh eyes.  God uses people with a right heart to accomplish his greatest works.  I would rather serve with people who have a heart for ministry than people who are extremely talented but their heart is not in the task.

A right heart for a great work.  An insightful fact about Chronicles ~~ From our vantage, David and Solomon are ancient stories, 3000 years old.  To the people who first heard Chronicles, David and Solomon are ancient stories, about 500 years before their time.  The story Solomon is told to encourage us to get our hearts right with God….

    Carl Crouse, Pastor

At SACC we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  Every Sunday the worship service includes a message from the Bible. My words are an attempt to understand and apply the Bible to our daily living.  I post weekly sermons and other biblical messages on this page. May you find meaning and hope as you read through each message and seek to hear God's voice. Leave a comment to ask questions or inspire others with your insights.

In general, the previous Sunday's sermon will be posted by Tuesday afternoon.
