If I had to pick one song that was my father’s favorite, I can still hear him standing in front of the church singing the little chorus: “God is so good.” Sometimes he even dragged out his ukulele. Simple, but profound.

We’ve been talking about the church. Some assembly is required. The Church is God’s idea. God’s doing. The church means nothing more than the gathering together of God’s people. I believe the roots of the New Testament Church begins in the Old Testament. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. God’s character does not change. His purposes are the same. The character of humankind is the same then as now, sinners in need of the grace of God in order to be acceptable to God. The forms may change, but the character and purposes of God do not change.
“and they lived happily ever after.” That’s the way a fairy tale ends “happily ever after” describes what so many of us really want. If truth be told, that’s even what we want when we become a Christian: a carefree life. That is what we expect from a church: no problems, everyone getting along, no issues: and they lived happily ever after.

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it. Sam Levenson Cabbage: A familiar kitchen-garden vegetable about as large and wise as a man's head. Ambrose Bierce Hebrews 3:12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.

At SACC we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Every Sunday the worship service includes a message from the Bible. My words are an attempt to understand and apply the Bible to our daily living. I post weekly sermons and other biblical messages on this page. May you find meaning and hope as you read through each message and seek to hear God's voice. Leave a comment to ask questions or inspire others with your insights. Categories
